UH Mānoa Economics Professor Talks the Disruption of Global Trade - Hawaiipublicradio

The disruption of global trade due to the pandemic seems far from over. Markets are trying to recover from shortages as well as transportation and workforce challenges — that’s behind the rental and new car woes, and supply chain issues materializing on store shelves.

Dean of the College of Social Sciences and an economics professor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Denise Konan's specialty is international trade.

Konan discussed the marketplace concept of “just in time” and other factors impacting product shortages in a world where trade is so intertwined.

This interview aired on The Conversation on Aug. 31, 2021.
